The Gold Coast Community Cabinet Official Government Reception
ADC’s Steve Crow attended the Gold Coast Community Cabinet official government reception on Sunday 15th May 2016 at the Southport Yacht Club. The event was hosted by The Hon. Annastacia Palaszczuk MP, Premier of Queensland and Minister for the Arts and the Queensland Cabinet. The event was also attended by other State Government ministers as well as the Mayor of Gold Coast City, Cr Tom Tate.
The Premier spoke to the event about the important role the Gold Coast plays in supporting South East Queensland and Australian tourism, and alluded to a potential significant increase in foreign visitors (particularly from China) that were anticipated to visit in the coming months and years. The community cabinet discussed growth and development opportunities for the Gold Coast – particularly in the lead-up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Steve took the opportunity to speak with Ms Jennifer Howard (Assistant Minister for Local Government) about a range of local government challenges as well as the upcoming new Planning Act and discussed with the Premier the importance of continued progress with the development of the South East Queensland (SEQ) Regional Plan.
