Aerial Surveying

Aerial Surveyors in Queensland

Established in the 1960s, Arnold Development Consultants (ADC) is a multidisciplinary land development strategies firm which specialises in town planning, land surveying, urban design and project management. Our team use Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), commonly called drones, to provide clients with aerial mapping, survey and inspection services.

Using the DJI Matrice 200 UAV technology, we can streamline the process of aerial mapping as projects can now be planned, flown and processed all in the same day.

Our Capabilities

We specialise in providing high-resolution imagery captured at low altitude, suitable for small mapping projects. We can assist with:

  • Engineering design
  • Situational awareness
  • Construction progress
  • Volume calculations
  • Site planning
  • Drainage modelling
  • Environmental disturbance
  • Orthometric imagery for exploration
  • General project planning

Drones allow you to safely and efficiently inspect tall or inaccessible structures or conduct highly accurate surveying. It’s a cost-effective option that can be done quickly and doesn’t interfere with work on the ground.

Orthophotos

Raw images from the UAV are digitally processed into high-quality orthophotos. These orthophotos are seamless and display lively colours free from atmospheric haze effects. Full-resolution end products are available within hours or days following the survey, depending on the size of your project. Orthophotos are geometrically corrected and have the benefits of high detail, uniform scale and true geometry.

Digital Elevation Model

We can also process the data from the UAV into a Digital Elevation Model (DEM). This provides a digital representation of ground surface topography including every tree, structure and object. This is useful for topographical mapping as well as the calculation of earthworks and stockpile volumes.

We guarantee accuracy and consistency, which we achieve with high resolution image capture and ground control marks that are surveyed using GPS to coordinate the model.

One Square Kilometre Coverage Per Flight

The DJI Matrice 200 allows for flight durations of up 38 minutes with one square kilometre of ground coverage per flight. This makes our UAV services ideal for small mapping projects that would otherwise be too small for conventional aerial mapping or GPS surveying. Our solutions are a quick and cost-effective way to provide accurate spatial information and imagery that can be used for a range of purposes.

Rapid Deployment and Fast Turnaround Times

With a maximum unfolded dimension of just 887 mm and weight of only 3.8 kg, this lightweight industrial quadcopter is able to mobilise to any location on a commercial airline carrier, making it an efficient solution to your aerial mapping needs.

Projects are planned, flown and processed in as little as a 24-hr period, something we can achieve using our automated processing solution. This allows us to quickly orthorectify images and generate digital elevation models (DEM).
