Broadwater Marine Project/ Cruise Ship Terminal

ADC welcomes the State Governments commitment to protecting the Spit however urges all tiers of Government and the Gold Coast to get behind the project to be located on Wave Break Island!!

In recent weeks, the Queensland Government has determined that the Broadwater Marine Project including a cruise ship terminal will not be permitted to occur at The Spit.

We confirm the project is still under consideration but is now restricted to Wavebreak Island and includes a bridge connection to Labrador.

A variety of technical and environmental challanges remain, however it is important that the process is able to proceed to its conclusion to determine how those challenges will be overcome.

The UDIA (Qld) Gold Coast Logan Branch views the cruise ship terminal and associated development as a significant economic catalyst to the City of Gold Coast if the technical and environmental impacts are managed properly. It will also introduce the City to a growing tourism market. The Branch supports the continuation of this project and believes a cruise ship terminal is a logical addition to the City’s tourism infrastructure.
