Commonwealth Walkway Launch Gold Coast
Today Arnold Development Consultants had the honour of joining His Excellency the Governor General of Australia Sir Peter Cosgrove and Mayor Tom Tate to be a part of the unveiling of Commonwealth Walkway Foundation Disc Laying Ceremony at the City of Gold Coast’s Southport office. This was the first of 40 Royal discs to be laid at key points along the route. Director of ADC Michael Arnold had the honour of speaking personally with the Governor General and Mayor at the event. ADC congratulates the Gold Coast and Mayor Tate for the vision involved in bringing the Commonwealth Walkway to the Gold Coast, which will hopefully add to the post Commonwealth Games legacy.
The Walkway commences at the original Council Chambers building in Southport, extending through to Surfers Paradise then west along Thomas Drive to the Gold Coast Cultural Precinct finishing at the Council Chambers, Evandale. Ultimately, the walkway connects our thriving tourist strip with the City’s CBD and our emerging Cultural Precinct
The City of the Gold Coast secured approval from Her Majesty Queens Elizabeth II to be the first city outside the United Kingdom to commission a Commonwealth Walkway. The interactive walkway showcased some of the city’s best attractions and will also set in stone the legacy of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
